EquiStat Freshman Sire Statistics

By June 1, 2022No Comments

The EquiStat Freshman Sire Statistics rank the top new sires in the industry.

Freshman sires are stallions who are represented by their first show-age foal crop. Freshman stallions of 2021 were sires without any registered foal crops prior to 2018, meaning their first crop of registered foals reached performance-ge in 2021.

This article includes the top 15 freshman sires of 2021 based on their progeny’s cutting, reining, working cow horse and Western performance horse earnings in each category recorded in the statistical record-keeping service, EquiStat, through May 11, 2022.

The full freshman sire statistics were emailed to QHN Insider Stats subscribers on Thursday, May 26. To get full in-depth stats like these emailed to your inbox every month, subscribe today. The previous edition of QHN Insider Stats featured the EquiStat Broodmare Statistics

Foal years were verified through the American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse Club, Arabian Horse Association, Australian Quarter Horse Association, the Associação Brasileira de Quarto de Milha and Brazilian Association of Breeders of Creole Horses.

While every attempt is made to verify the foal years and exclude stallions who fall outside the parameters, those who are bred internationally or who have offspring that cannot be registered (such as clones) may be included despite having offspring born prior to the deadline.

Unless otherwise indicated, earnings from closed incentives not open to all participants are excluded, and money won by clones or offspring of clones may be attributed to the clone’s donor. The contents and statistics in this chart are copyrighted 2022 by Quarter Horse News.
